Man City vs Chelsea is set to be a thrilling FA Cup semi-final match at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Man City’s dreams of a back-to-back treble are over after being eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid in midweek. The defeat on penalties was hard to swallow, but surely the best way to get over a quarter-final loss is to book your place in the FA Cup final. The repeat treble has slipped from their grasp, but Man City are still on for a consecutive double (Premier League and FA Cup win), so while there may be some tired legs in the City camp, expect Pep to demand perfection from the start.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to make their second cup final of the season. The Blues fell to defeat in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, so will be hoping to do one better in the FA Cup and lift the famous trophy next month. While Man City will make for tough opposition, Chelsea appear to be clicking at the right time as they are undefeated across their last eight Premier League games. It’s been a tricky first season for manager Mauricio Pochettino but an FA Cup win would smooth over a lot of cracks.

Manchester City will look to make up for their Champions League heartache by sealing a place in next month's FA Cup final when they face Premier League rivals Chelsea at Wembley.
Pep Guardiola's side suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of European competition on Wednesday to end their hopes of back-to-back trebles, but the Premier League and FA Cup double remains a distinct possibility.
The fact the Champions League clash went the distance means the City boss could be forced into changes to combat fatigue, and the likes of Nathan Aké, Julián Álvarez, John Stones and Rico Lewis will likely be promoted to the starting XI.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will probably be hoping this tie doesn't go to penalties, after the palaver surrounding the build-up to Cole Palmer scoring from the spot in last Monday's 6-0 demolition job of Everton.
That took the Blues' unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions since losing to Liverpool in February's Carabao Cup final, and they will need Palmer at his best against his former club if they are to stand any chance of reaching a second domestic cup final of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten on penalties by Real Madrid to fall at the quarter-final hurdle and end hopes of a double treble. Chelsea, meanwhile, return to Wembley for the first time since their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool in February.
The Blues remain inconsistent but have gone unbeaten against City this season and, in Cole Palmer, they boast one of Europe’s form players looking to prove his previous employers wrong.
City had almost their full compliment available for the Madrid game, although John Stones was only able to play 10 minutes. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne came off after asking to do so, as Guardiola confirmed after the game.
Haaland is a doubt after a muscle issue, though Guardiola has suggested De Bruyne is feeling fit again after a hamstring complaint. The Blues will welcome back Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi after they missed Monday’s 6-0 win over Everton.
Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Robert Sanchez, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Lesley Ugochukwu and Levi Colwill are all believed to be out at this stage.
Chelsea will have been pleased to see City go all the way to penalties, although it’s hard to imagine Guardiola going out of two cups in the space of a few days.
City crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday after they were beaten on penalties by Real Madrid following a 1-1 draw at the Etihad. City managed a 3-3 draw away to the 14-time European champions but were unable to overcome them in the second leg, meaning City's dreams of defending their Champions League title and repeating last year's treble are now in ruins.
However, Pep Guardiola's side still sit at the top of the Premier League two points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool, who both lost last weekend, and can now seal another FA Cup final appearance if they can overcome Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea. City will face a Chelsea side who are enjoying a resurgence of late though, mainly down to former City man Cole Palmer who has found himself in the Golden Boot race against Erling Haaland following a remarkable scoring run of late.
Palmer brought his tally for this season to 20 goals when he bagged four against Everton on Monday night and the England youngster will be looking to prove a point when he faces his former club this weekend. City are sweating on the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne, Manu Akanji and Erling Haaland, who appeared to limp off the pitch against City, and so the Blues will be keeping an on the trio with the hope they can feature at Wembley.
The semi-final clash comes hot on the heels of Manchester City’s Champions League exit on penalties to Real Madrid.
It means there will be no repeat treble, but their chances of twin trophies were boosted by league slip-ups for both Arsenal and Liverpool last weekend.
Chelsea, though, will have designs on silverware of their own as they bid to make a strong finish to a mixed first campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.
Manchester City‘s primary objective for the season was the Champions League, yet their hopes were dashed when they were eliminated by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals. Although the morale of the “Citizens” may be low following this disappointment, it is imperative to move past the recent setback at the Etihad Stadium and focus on another important goal of the semester: the FA Cup.
Undoubtedly, Manchester City are the top favorites and will aim to assert their dominance. However, they will face a tough challenge in Chelsea, a team whose sole opportunity for silverware lies in the FA Cup. Chelsea will undoubtedly give their all against Pep Guardiola‘s side, necessitating vigilance from Manchester City.
Not only is a place in next month’s showpiece on the line, both teams will be confident of winning the competition as a whole if they can get past this test.
With all due respect, neither an out-of-sorts Manchester United nor Championship side Coventry on the other side of the draw will do much to strike fear into the hearts of either Man City boss Pep Guardiola or Chelsea counterpart Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues will be hoping they can pile on the misery for City, who this week were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid on penalties, and capitalise on their eight game unbeaten run. However, with recent setbacks for both Arsenal and Liverpool, Pep Guardiola's team now sits atop the Premier League, and will be hungry to capture the Premier League and FA Cup double.
Chelsea's recent run of form, where despite draws against Sheffield United and Burnley they are in good form and unbeaten since late February, is largely credited to former City player Cole Palmer who has unexpectedly emerged as a contender in the Golden Boot race, rivalling Erling Haaland. Palmer's stellar performance, including a four-goal haul against Everton, has propelled his season tally to an incredible 20 goals.
After remaining unbeaten for an incredible 27 matches across all competitions, Pep Guardiola's team finally fell to a defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League in their latest outing. They will be desperate to return to their winning ways but Mauricio Pochettino and co. could spring a surprise.
The Blues are also on an unbeaten run that has now stretched to eight games. They are heading into this crucial cup tie on the back of a brilliant 6-0 win over Everton which included a sensational Cole Palmer four-goal haul.
Man City's Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Manuel Akanji will undergo pre-match assessment. Guardiola has shared positive news about De Bruyne's fitness, but Haaland's availability is uncertain due to a lingering muscle issue.
On Chelsea's side, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, and Levi Colwill are all out due to injuries. Cesare Casadei is ineligible to play due to being cup-tied.
Raheem Sterling, Robert Sanchez, Axel Disasi, and Enzo Fernandez missed Monday's victory against Everton and will be evaluated before the match. Christopher Nkunku has resumed partial team training and will be assessed before kick off.
